SEWING FUNDAMENTALS: An Introduction to Sewing
20 hours / 2 college credits from UCSD Extended Studies

No prerequisites required. All skill levels welcome.
Ages 9-12 + Ages 13-18
Core 1 focuses on the basics of machine sewing — threading, bobbins and straight stitching. Other skills to be taught: how to properly cut fabric, set a sleeve and read a pattern. Plus, seam finishes including Hong Kong, French, seam binding, serger, overlock, pinking and flat-felled; and zippers, exposed, lapped and invisible. First projects: Sew a hoodie. Begin to build sample book.
