3D PRINTING AND CAD CREATIONS:
Plastics, Plastic Alternatives and the Environment

20 hours / 2 college credits from UCSD Extended Studies
Subjects: Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Studies
Prerequisites: Core 1,2 Completion

This course focuses on the process of 3D design and 3D printing using computer-aided design software. Students will also learn more about the environmental impact of plastics and how we can be better stewards of our planet’s health. We will talk about what plastics — and plastic alternatives  (such as PLA) — are used in 3D printers and when to use them. PLA is one of the most used, environmentally friendly, 3D printing materials because it is made largely from corn, a renewable resource. All 3D projects will be printed and can be collected on the last class.  **Bring your own laptop or use one of ours.
