THINKING IN 3D: Introduction to 3D Printing and Impact of Plastics
20 hours / Earn 2 college credits from UCSD Extended Studies
Subjects: Engineering, Environmental Studies
No prerequisites required. All skill levels welcome. Ages 12-18

In this course, students will begin to learn how to THINK in 3D — meaning being able to assemble, disassemble, rotate and even create two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects. Students will get an introduction to 3D modeling, design, prototyping and 3D printing. Students will develop problem solving and logical thinking skills through creating their own 3D projects, including a series of 3D pen creations. An important part of this course is understanding what it means to be sustainable, and the impact plastics have on our oceans, landfills and the environment.   **Bring your own laptop or use one of ours.
